STNAs Are Our Backbone
June 29, 2023
Unless you have worked in a nursing environment, you probably have no idea what an STNA actually does. Yes, they keep the residents clean and make sure they get to meals and activities, but did you know they also have hidden superpowers? It's true! State Tested Nursing Assistants are the eyes and ears of our residents. They know more about the residents than anyone else in the building; sometimes, they even know more than the family members. Their job is not only to be a caretaker but a listener, a confidant and a secret-keeper. STNAs are one of the first staff members that new residents meet and are often the ones holding their hands when they pass. They spend so much time with the residents that they build great relationships and become like family.
STNAs are truly the backbone of our facility. To be an STNA is to be loving, empathetic, compassionate, hardworking and strong, and our STNAs here at Meadow Grove are just that. They're incredible humans who take pride in their jobs and perform to the best of their abilities. We could not function without them, and they deserve to be celebrated every single day. Thank you to all of our incredible STNAs, from the bottom of our hearts. Happy STNA Week!
